Vocational Training: Media and Information Services Specialist (FaMI)
In this varied profession, you will help people find information, organize and maintain media collections, research databases, get to know library systems and gain exciting insights into the working world of modern libraries.
Prerequisites
An intermediate school-leaving certificate is required for the apprenticeship. A good knowledge of German and English is an advantage. We are looking for committed people who enjoy working in a team, are meticulous and enjoy working with others. IT skills and an interest in information technology are also important.
Training Duration and Content
The training lasts three years and includes practical assignments in various departments of the SUB Göttingen. Internships in archives and libraries are part of the training. The theoretical training takes place in block modules at the Multi-Media Berufsbildende Schulen in Hanover.
Remuneration and Working Environment
The training allowance is based on the collective agreement of the federal states (TVA-L BBiG). We offer sound training in one of the largest academic libraries in Germany - with modern working conditions and varied tasks.
Application
We train two apprentices every year. The positions are usually advertised in September of the previous year.
