Booking
You can book carrels for short or long-term use, lockers or book trolleys at several locations - for concentrated work in the library.
Central Library
Please note that the carrels in the Central Library are not soundproof and therefore only suitable for quiet individual work.
Short-term bookings for students of the University of Göttingen
Simply book one of our 35 short-term carrels financed by student funds via the online reservation system, which you can also use for the Learning and Study Building.
Long-term bookings for doctoral candidates at the University of Göttingen
Use our long-term carrels for working on your dissertation via the online reservation system.
- Reservations can be made on a weekly basis (mondays to sundays) for a maximum of 26 weeks up to 12 months in advance
- Invitation of a second doctoral candidate is possible.
- Crediting of days of use, even in the event of changes (shortening, cancelations) within the next 90 days (50% of the unused days). After the reservation period ends, the reserved days will be deleted so that you can make a new booking.
- Please note that your reservation will be automatically canceled if you have not registered four days after the start of your reservation.
Carrels for invited guests of the University of Göttingen
Depending on availability we shall gladly provide you with a carrel. Please send your request directly to Regina Sonnenberg sonnenberg@sub.uni-goettingen.de or to information@sub.uni-goettingen.de.
Book lockers
Would you like to lock up your own documents overnight? Students at Göttingen University can reserve lockers on the 1st and 2nd floors of the reading room for several days via eCampus.
Lockers on second floor can be utilized for four 4 weeks by private users; you can request the key at the information desk.
Lockable book trolleys are also available upon request, please contact the information desk to arrange this.
Cultural Studies Divisional Library
Carrels
The 21 long-term work carrels are available to students and doctoral candidates of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities who are writing a Bachelor's or Master's thesis (reservation for a maximum of 3 months) or dissertation (reservation for a maximum of 6 months).

If you would like to store work materials or media from other locations overnight, you can obtain a locker for long-term use. Please contact the service desk for the key and the conditions of allocation.
Historical Building
Carrels and book trolleys
You can reserve a carrel or a lockable book trolley in the reading room for one semester. Carrels are primarily allocated to users conducting research on historical, humanities, and cultural studies topics.

Learning and Study Building (LSG)
Room booking in the LSG
The Learning and Study Building (LSG) offers around 650 individual and group workspaces for students. You can book the rooms and lockers online via a reservation system in the eCampus. You can find instructions at StudIT.
Registration of a student association
Please note: Authorization for use can only be granted if the student association has first been registered with the Infrastructural Building Management. Please send an email to raumvergabe@zvw.uni-goettingen.de for this purpose.
