Parent-Child Rooms

Are you studying at the University of Göttingen with a child? Take advantage of the parent-child rooms at our locations. If required, you can also enquire about other rooms of this type from the university's decentralised equal opportunities officers.
Central Library
In the Central Library you can book a room on the 2nd floor for studying with your child. Here you can change your child's nappies and your child can play while you work. In the Learning and Study Building you will find several bookable rooms in the parent-child area. On request we can activate your student ID chip card for the use of the room.
Application for the Use of Parent-Child Rooms
Medical Library
In the Medical Library you will finda generally accessible baby changing and breastfeeding room as well as a parent-child room that can be used for up to two hours without prior registration. The room is equipped with a workstation, a children's hammock, a playpen and a place to sit or lie down as well as some toys. Suitcases with additional toys can be borrowed from the circulation desk.
Cultural Studies Divisional Library
In the Cultural Studies Divisional Library there is a parent-child room on the first floor, which can be used without prior registration. The room is equipped with a PC workstation, a nursing chair, a play mat, books and some toys.
Economics and Social Sciences Divisional Library
There is a specially equipped parent-child-room for students with children in the basement of the BBWiSo.
Rooms for People with Restricted Mobility
Central Library
For users with restricted mobility, there are Learning and Study Building and in the Central Library special rooms that can be booked. If you are restricted in your mobility, you can submit an application for the use of rooms with mobility restrictions. After submitting the application, you will be granted access to the relevant rooms.

Cultural Studies Divisional Library
In the Cultural Studies Divisional Library users with mobility restrictions canalso use the parent-child room. An application is not necessary.

Room of Tranquility

The Room of Tranquility on the 1st floor of the Central Library isopen to all library users seeking peace, reflection or a moment away from everyday life - be it for meditation, prayer or simply silence.
Anyone seeking retreat and peace and quiet is very welcome.
There are a few simple rules for using the room:
- Please keep your voice down.
- The room is open to everyone - regardless of religion or belief.
- Tolerance, consideration and acceptance should be given.
- Working, eating, drinking or sleeping are not permitted.
- Please take back any items you have brought with you.
