GND Agency
As a contact point for humanities and cultural studies projects, the GND Agency provides advice on questions relating to the Common Authority File (GND) and supports the creation of GND-compliant authority files.
Who are we?
The GND-Agentur Text+ is a service that is being set up at the SUB Göttingen as part of the NFDI consortium Text+.
As a partner of the GND(Gemeinsame Normdatei), the agency is a point of contact for projects in the humanities and cultural sciences that work with authority data or identifiers from the GND and would also like to contribute data to the GND themselves.
What are we doing?
The agency supports projects in creating new records in the GND or adding further information to existing entries. In this context we offer
- content-related advice regarding the suitability criteria of data for the GND.
- Provision and development of entityXML, a data format and Oxygen framework for the exchange of authority data between projects and the GND agency Text+.
- Validation and quality control of data submissions in entityXML.
- Conversion of data deliveries into MARC 21, the GND import format.
- Importing data submissions into the GND and subsequent provision of the generated GND IDs.
How do we provide support?
Contact point: We are a point of contact for research projects wishing to submit their data to the GND. In cases where we cannot help ourselves, we are also happy to refer inquiries to one of our GND partner agencies.
Advice center: We provide advice on questions relating to the GND, provide information on the GND guidelines and train users in the use of the entityXML data entry tool and format.
Data service: We provide support in the creation of GND-compliant authority files. In this context, we validate submitted data, clean it up or enrich it if necessary and convert it into the GND import format (MARC 21).
